The Rustic Ramble is a self-guided farm and garden tour that invites you to explore the rich agricultural landscape of Capay Valley. Wander through vibrant orchards, flourishing vegetable fields, thoughtfully designed gardens while meeting the growers (and some animals!) who steward the land. Along the way, enjoy hands-on activities, tastings, and a deeper connection to the vibrant Capay Valley!

Farm & Garden Trail – Explore a curated selection of farms and gardens at your own pace. Meet local farmers, learn about regenerative practices, and experience the valley’s agricultural diversity firsthand. Site highlights include:
A ranch that specializes in Arabian horses
Olive orchard with tastings
Six different small and large scale, organic and diversified farms
A 15 acre floral production farm
Five private gardens filled with both California natives and the lovliest spring roses
Taste of Capay Picnic – Along the Farm & Garden Trail, stop at Capay Valley Lavender to indulge in a thoughtfully prepared picnic featuring farm-fresh bites crafted by local chefs and local beer and refreshments. Savor the flavors of the valley while soaking in the scenic beauty of the countryside. The picnic will be open 12-3pm.

Important Information
This is a self-directed tour, where you will be able to choose your itinerary and decide which and how many tour stops to visit. A ticket is required to attend all the locations included in the event. Registered guests will receive a digital map via email 1 week prior to the event with a complete list of garden and farm stops.
Tickets can be purchased the day of the event.
CHECK-IN
On the day of the event, all guests must first check-in for the event at a location in Esparto. Check-in will start at 9:30 a.m. You will receive a paper map and sticker, which will give you full access to the sites. Guests must have a sticker to enter each site!
PLANNING YOUR DAY
Once you receive the event details via email, you can plan your route. Keep in mind, the nearest distance between locations may range from 3 - 15 miles. Each site will be a little different-- some will have set tour times, others will be open for self-guided exploration. You will also find farm stands and local bites to purchase. Expect to be at each site for at least 30 minutes. Farm tours will typically take up to 1 hour. The map will also include points of interest such as scenic parks, hiking trails and shops to round out your visit.
The Taste of Capay Picnic will be located at Capay Valley Lavender and open from 12-3pm for guests to enjoy. This beautiful lavender farm is the perfect spot to relax for lunch and enjoy tastings from local chefs and a beautiful grazing board. You don't want to miss it!
For those interested in wine tasting, consider purchasing a ticket to the Yolo County Wines Wine Ramble, happening the same weekend.
TIPS FOR THE TRAILS
The tour will happen rain or shine! Please be aware of the weather forecast and dress appropriately.
Most stops are kid-friendly. This will be noted in the tour listings.

We recommend printing the map and directions, or taking screenshots on your phone, prior to departing for your tours as cell reception is not reliable in some rural areas. You will receive a paper map at check-in.
Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated and bring layers and protection for the sun or inclement wather.
Bring a cooler and basket or bag for purchases. Please carry out anything you bring with you.
Please keep an eye on children at all times.
Please drive slowly, especially on dirt roads.
Please no smoking or vaping.
Please leave your pets at home. Bonafide service animals excepted.

CANCELLATIONS/TOUR DISRUPTION NOTICE: Capay Valley Vision reserves the right to cancel the event in the case of fire, hazardous air quality, power outages, storms, or other conditions that may present high risk to tour participants and attendees.
